Low Sodium Snacks

[ Video Transcipt ]

Hi, welcome to Kelly, the Nurse. Tonight, we're gonna talk about low -sodium desserts and snacks. Remember, we're trying to keep the total amount of sodium to 2 ,000 milligrams for the whole day. If you've been able to keep your breakfast, your lunch, and dinner to around 400 to 600 milligrams each, you should have 200 or 300 milligrams left over to spend on low -sodium snacks.

Now, the snacks that we're going to show you are not low in carbohydrates or sugar, so our diabetic friends might not want to watch the rest of this video. Now, behind me, on this table, there are some options, some of which might surprise you. So let's take a look.

The snack options that you see on the table are between zero and 150 milligrams of sodium per serving. The popcorn is the highest at 150 milligrams per serving and some of the lowest is the marshmallows and some of the candy including the jelly beans. The ice cream is between 30 and 60 milligrams of sodium per serving and the Fritos, lightly salted, have 80 milligrams for 34.

Thank you very much for watching our video tonight. Have a great day. See you next time.
